Grouse Campground is a well-kept and scenic destination in McCall, Idaho. It is part of Payette National Forest, a federally managed area that spans over 2 million acres in the state’s western region. The forest provides an incredible backdrop for camping, and you’re sure to enjoy the striking beauty of the campground’s surroundings. You’ll find many fun recreational activities to pursue during the day, and at night, a sky full of stars will enchant and inspire you. The campground is dog-friendly, so you can bring your dog along with you to keep you company!
The campground has nine sites, and all the sites are accessible. You can choose from single- and double-family sites, and the nightly rates for a site are $10 and $15. The sites are well-shaded by the surrounding spruce and pine trees, and Goose Lake sits right beside the campground as well. Many of the sites have a nice view of the lake, which is a great location for fishing and canoeing. You can also spot some beautiful wildflowers around the campground in the summer. In the distance, the scenic mountains provide the perfect finishing touch to the campground’s wonderful setting.
In addition to the activities available at the lake, there are a number of great outdoor recreation sites in the area around the campground. There are many superb hiking trails in Payette National Forest, and some popular ones that are close to the campground are Granite Mountain Lookout and Goose Creek Falls. You can also head to Brundage Mountain Resort, which has chairlift rides and more trails.
When you’re staying at Grouse Campground, remember that your canine companion has to be leashed and cleaned up after at all times. Also note that you’ll have to bring your own garbage bags; the campground has a “pack it in, pack it out” trash policy.
