As part of the broader Sequoia National Forest, Headquarters campground offers some truly stunning pieces of natural landscape for overnight guests to enjoy.
Thanks to its location right next to the Kern River, Headquarters Campground offers kayaking and rafting during the warmer seasons. Rental options are available if you'd like to hit the water, or you can choose to attend a river tour through a third-party company located in the same area. You can find out more information about the tours by contacting the campground office. If you're bringing your water vessel, make sure you've got up-to-date registration visible before you drop your paddles. Dogs are allowed on privately owned boatsĀ but are barred from riding along on rental vehicles. Please note that swimming is discouraged here, as the Kern River has strong currents that could sweep you and Fido away!
Forty-four total campsites, with nightly rates starting atĀ $28, are available here, offering a mix of standard and RV sites in addition to a few primitive sites and three rentable yurts. Save for the primitive sites, these areas all come standard with a fire ring and picnic table. If you're looking to catch a spot in a particularly scenic area, make sure to reach out to the campground offices as these spots fill up quickly. Restrooms are centrally located, as well as taps for drinking water. Guests coming in recreational vehicles should be warned that every site located here is non-electric, and the campground doesn't have a dump station, so any pop-ups or RVs should be self-contained. If you're bringing your canine along to camp, they'll need to stay on a leash during your visit. Guests should keep in mind that there's an additional $2 surcharge for any holiday stays.
While Headquarters Campground itself is devoid of hiking opportunities, the surrounding Sequoia National Forest offers several miles of hiking opportunities. For more info regarding forest hikes, make sure to visit the official website. While you're here, don't miss out on the spectacular waterfalls nearby, including Salmon Creek Falls and Grizzly Falls.
You and your pooch are sure to make un-fur-gettable memories at this canine-friendly campground!
