Hickory Holler Campground is a public campground located in West York, Illinois. The 100-site campground offers tent and RV camping in a beautiful, country setting. The easily accessible campground sits by a scenic lake, surrounded by Shagbark hickories, wildflowers, and grass. This is a great place for a family trip, especially since dogs are welcome at the campground.
Each campsite comes with a fire ring and a picnic table. Most of the sites are well-shaded but quite close to each other. There are a few sites that offer more privacy but also have less shade, which is perfect for sunbathing or reading outdoors. There are 30 and 50 amp full hookups available. However, although the campsites are quite spacious, they cannot accommodate big rigs.
There are flushing restrooms, hot showers, a dump station, and laundry facilities on-site. To top that off, there is a playground that kids can play around in, horseshoes, putt-putt, a pool, and paddle boat rentals for the adults. Plus, the campground’s store is equipped with firewood, ice, and refreshments. Sites start at $21 per night and include free wifi.
There is a trail that loops around the lake on-site, as well as numerous hiking and equestrian trails nearby, which are great for dog walking and exploring the beautiful terrain. There is a grassy, open space area that dogs can enjoy and sniff around in as well. Just make sure to check your pooch for ticks after any outdoor trips in the grass to make sure they remain happy and healthy. Please pack plenty of dog waste bags and clean up after your four-legged family member, both at the campground and out on the trails. There is a golf course nearby and a few restaurants so that patrons can enjoy the perks of civilization within a few miles of this well-maintained campground.Â
