The Jackass Meadow Campground is situated on the San Joaquin River in the Sierra National Forest in Lakeshore, California. There are 44 sites at the campground, and they can accommodate RVs and vehicles up to 25 feet. Jackass Meadow is pawsitioned just below Florence Lake, and plentiful trees surrounding the campground gives lots of shade and privacy for campers. There are no extra fees for your pet to join you at Jackass Meadow, but visitors must keep doggos on a leash and always clean up after them.
Your spot at Jackass Meadow will come with a campfire ring and grill, a picnic table, and a bear-safe food locker. Be sure to utilize the food lockers and never feed bears, as they are commonly seen around the campground. Some of the campground's other amenities include trash collection, drinking water, an amphitheater, and much more. If you happen to forget anything, you can head to the Florence Lake Store, which is just half a mile away.
The Florence Lake Store also has a boat ramp and boat rentals so you can enjoy the lake. Another fun activity is taking the ferry from Florence Lake to the John Muir Trail -- ferry tickets can also be purchased at the Florence Lake Store. The campground is near several Native American archaeological sites, and the nearby John Muir Wilderness provides all sorts of recreational activities for campers. You'll find plenty of other trails to choose from around Jackass Meadow, including a 0.7-mile accessible nature trail surrounding the campground. During the summer, nature walks are held every Saturday, so don't miss out on those!
Each site at Jackass Meadow can accommodate up to six people, and guests are permitted to stay up to 14 days. Your $26 nightly camping fee includes parking for one vehicle, but you'll be subject to an additional $10 daily fee for a second vehicle.
