JUNIPER FLATS GROUP CAMPSITE on GRAND ISLAND

Keep your pet close by during your camping trip to Juniper Flats Group Campsite on Grand Island. Dogs are allowed to join you on a trip of a lifetime to Grand Island on Lake Superior as long as they are kept on leashes that are shorter than six feet. Your dog can join you as you enjoy time on a sandy beach, explore green forests, or take an adventure on the sandstone cliffs.

These are group camping sites that accommodate between seven and 25 people at a time. There isn't a fee for camping here, and sites don't have to be reserved, so you may want to get there early on the days you want to camp to ensure you get a spot. Single-family spots are also available if you don't wish to camp with others.

This campground is located on the west side of the island and gives visitors close access to both Waterfall and Mather beaches. It is very shady during the day due to the large number of trees in the area, but you can still see the beach from the campgrounds.

Boats are frequently brought to the area for fun on the lake. Many guests enjoy kayaking and canoeing as well. While on the lake, fishing is a must. Fishers often snag salmon, trout, pike, walleye, bass, and perch.

Bird watching is another common activity in the campsite. There are many different birds that call the area home, and visitors love spotting them.

Bear boxes are provided in the campsite to prevent the attraction of bears and to keep everyone safe. There are also bear poles.

The rugged camping area has vault toilets for use and drinking water is available on site. If you are interested in making a fire, there are campfire rings and firewood that is available for public use.
