Description

Lake Cascade is a 47-square-mile lake that sits on the North Fork of Idaho's Payette River, tucked away in the magnificent mountains of central Idaho. It's the fourth-largest lake in the State and is also home to a beautiful state park campground worth visiting all year round.

Featuring 10 developed campgrounds spread around 86 miles of beautiful shoreline, Lake Cascade State Park is paradise for aquatic adventure lovers. Anglers can target rainbow trout, Coho salmon, or smallmouth bass at any time of year, with six boat launching ramps provided. When the wind picks up in the afternoon, the windsurfers and plethora of other sailing craft taking advantage of the conditions are a sight to behold. The Payette River also offers excellent whitewater rafting that draws enthusiasts from far and wide.

When you're looking to do some exploring on dry land, hikers and mountain bikers are treated to a diverse network of trails both within and beyond the park. Opportunities for wildlife watching abound, and you might catch a glimpse of everything from deer and badger to eagles, hawks, and all manner of bird life.

Once you're ready to set up camp for the night, you're spoiled for choice. Lake Cascade State Park offers:

  • 2 group camping opportunities, including Snowbank group camp and Osprey Point group yurts
  • 279 campsites across 10 developed campgrounds
  • 2 dispersed camping areas with primitive camping

If camping with your pet, make sure your furry friend is on a leash of six feet or less and is under control at all times. Respect the rights of other users, stick to designated pet-friendly areas, and remember to clean up after your dog whenever necessary.

If you can stay on the right side of these simple rules, you and your dog will be free to enjoy a wonderful waterfront camping vacation in this truly impressive state park.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
