Little Buffalo State Park

Little Buffalo Creek has been drawing people from far and wide for centuries. Happily, pets are permitted within the park boundaries, including in the campground, so you can enjoy a camping weekend away in this popular location with your pooch by your side. Two cottages and 40 campsites in Little Buffalo State Park welcome pets, and the modern campground is open from the day before trout season to the third Sunday in October.

If you're planning on staying with your dog, you'll need to familiarize yourself with all park rules and regulations before you arrive. These rules include ensuring that your pet is never left unattended and is under control at all times. You'll also need to pick up after your furry friend whenever required and dispose of their waste properly.

With these minor responsibilities taken care of, you and your dog can set out to explore the best that Little Buffalo State Park has to offer. Two public boat launches can be found on the north side of 88-acre Holman Lake, and canoes, rowboats, and pedal boats can all be rented from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Anglers can enjoy warm-water fishing opportunities all year round, with trout, largemouth bass, catfish, and more on offer. And while swimming is prohibited in Holman Lake, the park also features a swimming pool in the main day-use area.

For those who prefer land-based recreation, eight miles of trails lead this way and that throughout the park. Cross-country skiing and ice skating are also popular in the winter while picnicking and wildlife watching is excellent all year round.
