This campground sits at an elevation of 7,800 feet, and it’s located on the beautiful Ruedi Reservoir. The campground is surrounded by conifer trees that keep the area shady and cool, and the daily rate ranges from $24 to $27. Little Maud is full of great activities for anyone who loves being out on the water. If you’re bringing a boat, the campground has a boat ramp you can use to go out on the Ruedi Reservoir. You can also go swimming and fishing in this reservoir. Many fly-fishing enthusiasts also try their luck catching brown, rainbow, cutthroat, and brook trout in the nearby Fryingpan River.
If you and your dog love hiking together, hop on the eight-mile Ruedi Trail. This unpaved trail begins just north of Little Maud, and it takes you up Red Table Mountain. The trail has an elevation gain of 3,000 feet, making it pawfect for athletic pups and people, and it offers stunning views of Ruedi Reservoir and the forest around it. Bring plenty of water, and enjoy tackling this challenging and beautiful hike with your pup.
After you’ve finished your adventures for the day, you can relax and enjoy the amenities at Little Maud. Each campsite comes with a picnic table and a campfire ring you can use to build a roaring fire. The campground also often hosts interpretive programs which provide interesting information about the White River National Forest.
