Mariners Point Group Campground is a large, two-loop campground located in Redding, California. This dog-friendly campground can accommodate up to 120 people, allowing campers to have a good amount of personal space despite the campsite’s popularity. It is the ideal location for camping with tents or RV campers, especially if you enjoy fishing or lake views. The campground is located by Shasta Lake, where visitors can boat as well. If you prefer hiking, fear not as there are beautiful hiking trails in the nearby Shasta-Trinity National Forest. The national forest not only happens to be the biggest national forest in California, but it also features several mountain lakes, wilderness areas, and countless streams visitors can relax by.
Although there is no running water at the Mariners Point Group Campground, it is equipped with everything else you would need for a good camping trip. Each campsite has a picnic table, a fire ring, and a grill. There is plenty of room to park, and portable toilets are available for the campers' convenience. Most importantly, dogs are welcome to join you for the weekend away from the city. They do, however, have to either remain leashed or be under strict voice control at all times. Please keep that in mind if you decide to bring your fur-ball along, and make sure to pack enough dog waste bags for the entire trip, as well as plenty of water and a water bowl! Lastly, since the campsite is surrounded by water, bringing bug repellent spray is strongly suggested -- no one likes mosquito bites!
Secluded but safe, with paved roads, lake access, and stable cell service reception, this evergreen-filled campground is definitely worth checking out. Plus, there are plenty of things to do both on land and in the water, especially since there are boat rentals nearby that also offer water sports.
