May Queen is a furrific campground located on the shore of Turquoise Lake. The campground has an elevation of 9,900 feet, and most of May Queen’s six campsites are located in an open field along the lake. Dogs are welcome to join you at the campground on-leash.
If you and your pup love hiking together, May Queen is a great choice for you. The campground is home to the trailhead for the 6.4-mile Turquoise Lake Trail. This trail runs from May Queen Campground to Dam Campground, and it parallels Turquoise Lake the whole way through, providing amazing views during your walk.
May Queen is also just a short drive from the Timberline Lake Trail. This trail is 2.2 miles long, and it takes you around Timberline Lake. As you’re walking, you may get to see some of the area’s native wildlife, including beavers and porcupines.
After you’ve finished hiking, you can relax and enjoy May Queen’s many great amenities. Anglers can spend their day fishing for trout in Turquoise Lake’s clear water. You can also go swimming in the lake, or you can go kayaking, sailing, or boating — a boat ramp is available at the campground.
When you get hungry, you can cook up dinner for you and your pup on one of the campground’s grills. You can enjoy your dinner at your campsite’s personal picnic table. If you get chilly, each campsite also comes with its own campfire ring, and firewood is for sale at the campground. You and your pup will both have a good time relaxing by your own roaring fire!
