Millpoint RV Park
Millpoint RV Park is a pet-friendly campground located on the shores of scenic Upper Peoria Lake on the Illinois River. With 80 full-hookup sites, tent sites, and a primitive camping area, it's a quiet park designed to suit a wide range of campers.
Adjacent to the Spring Bay Fen Nature Reserve, the campground is a scenic spot with easy access to plenty of outdoor activities. Sites are shaded and clean, and there are several pull-through sites available for large rigs. Many (but not all) sites are close to the water, so make sure you check a map of the campground when reserving your spot.
Most sites are level and the restrooms are clean and in good working order. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the campground, while picnic tables and fire rings are also provided. The park is also conveniently close to grocery stores and a range of other facilities and attractions in and around Peoria -- for example, you could take a ride on an authentic paddlewheel-driven boat or get a taste of culture at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
If you're traveling with kids, you might be disappointed that there's no playground on offer, but there are still plenty of opportunities for children to get outdoors and get active. The park features a boat launch with river access, two private lakes for fishing, and a walking trail that leads down to a beach on the river. Unfortunately, there's no swimming allowed in the lakes or river.
Primitive tent sites are $18 a night, tent sites with electric and water are $20 a night, while all other sites are $44 a night. Cabins and camping pods are also available, but pets aren't allowed in any buildings in Millpoint RV Park.
If you're bringing your pet to the park, make sure your furry friend is kept on a leash, never left unattended, and always cleaned up after. A dedicated off-leash area would be a welcome addition, but there's plenty of grassy space available when you want to take your leashed pet for a walk.
