The closest site to Mogollon Rim, the dog-friendly Mogollon Campground offers spectacular views, 26 camping sites, a few lakes, and numerous enjoyable activities. It is situated just 5 miles from highway 260. The Rim marks Colorado Plateau’s southern edge in Arizona. In the winter, you can also enjoy backcountry skiing in the area.
Ponderosa pines surround the campground, which itself is sandy and gravel. The road to the campground is sandy as well. The campsites are pull-outs and about 40 feet, with room for tents, trailers, motorhomes, and pop-up campers. The 26 sites are divided across two loops, each having 13 sites. You will find a picnic table, grill, and campfire ring in each campsite. Drinking water, vault toilets, and trash service are also provided. Remember to carry some poop bags if you’re taking Fido along; you need to do your part to maintain the scenic beauty of the area.Â
The Woods Canyon Lake is around 3 miles out on Road 105, offering nice fishing and boating options. There is a Marina Store at Woods Canyon Lake where you can get groceries. Boat and kayak rentals are also available at the store. You need to either keep your doggo on a leash or under direct voice control. Remember to adhere to the “leave no trace" policy in the area. Also be wary of bears by storing food properly. You are not allowed to move firewood and are encouraged to avert the spread of tree-killing pests by getting firewood near your destination and burning it onsite.
It’s convenient that the camp host is available on site to take care of any issues. From the well-maintained amenities to evening programs to breathtaking vistas, you and your dog will enjoy the many qualities of Mogollon Campground. For dog owners, camping enthusiasts and anglers, this is one of the best campgrounds in Arizona.
