Description

Montpelier Canyon Campground is a public campground located by Montpelier Creek in Montpelier, Idaho. Easily accessible from Highway 89, the cozy campground is surrounded by tall willow trees and lush greenery, both of which provide a decent amount of shade and reduce most of the noise coming from the highway. The dog-friendly campground is equipped with 15 single-family sites and offers a perfect spot for fishing and boating as it is situated just under five miles from the Montpelier Reservoir.

The campground is open to both RV and tent camping, with two out of 15 sites being tent-only. Although most of the sites are spacious enough for medium-sized RVs, please note that the gravel roads that lead to the campground are quite narrow and might not accommodate larger vehicles. The campground does not have drinking water available, but there are vault toilets on-site. Each campsite comes with a fire ring and a picnic table, perfect for grilled hot dogs in the evenings or mornings with toasted marshmallows.Ā Sites start at $10 per night while the day use fee is just $5.

Although the Montpelier Canyon Campground is pet-friendly, dogs need to remain leashed and in sight at all times during their stay. Due to the wildlife in the area, it is a good idea to follow the campgroundā€™s rules by supervising and cleaning up after your pooch, as well as storing and disposing of food properly in the designated trash receptacles to avoid attracting bears or bobcats. Additionally, since the sites are surrounded by dense vegetation and tall grass, make sure to check your pooch for ticks.

Even though the campground does not offer a lot in terms of amenities, it does have all the basics you'll need to enjoy primitive camping. You and your canine will pawsitively loveĀ hiking and fishing during the day and falling asleep at night with a cool breeze under a star-filled sky.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
