One of Colorado’s most versatile campgrounds is Mountain Park. It rests along Highway 14, and visitors can bring their tents or RVs to enjoy the campground’s well-maintained individual and group campsites. The surrounding forests, mountains, and meadows provide an excellent backdrop for camping, and there are many outdoor recreation sites in the area for campers to enjoy as well. The Cache la Poudre River flows by the campground, adding the perfect final touch to its natural ambiance. And the best part about the campground is that it is dog-friendly, so you can bring your canine companion along to keep you company!
Mountain Park has a variety of sites you can choose from, so you’re sure to find accommodations that suit your camping style. There are single- and double-family sites, some of which have electric hookups. There is also a group site that can accommodate up to 75 campers at a time. All of the sites are adequately shaded by the ponderosa pine trees around the campground. Nightly fees are $29, $58, or $132 depending on your campsite.
You will have access to Mountain Park’s great amenities throughout your stay. These include picnic tables, tent pads, campfire rings with grills, drinking water, and even coin-operated showers. The campground is conveniently located near many outdoor recreation sites as well. The neighboring river is a great spot for fishing or whitewater rafting. If you’re interested in hiking, stop by one of the many trailheads in the surrounding area — these trails are a great way to observe the amazing flora and fauna that call this region home. Mt. McConnel Trail, Young Gulch Trail, and William R. Kreutzer Trail are all fine choices.
There are a few things to keep in mind when you’re staying at Mountain Park Campground. Remember that you are in an active bear area — you should be careful about storing and disposing of food and waste. Dogs must remain on-leash at all times.
