There are many amenities and features Nancy Lake Recreation Area offers, you will never get bored, and neither will your pup since this is a dog-friendly campground. At this location, you will find many lakes, watersports, boat access, kayaking and canoeing, grills, docks, fishing, fire pits, swimming, picnic areas, shelters, public use cabins, tons of hiking trails, fresh drinking water, vault toilets, and so much more. The main attractions are the hiking trails that offer some of the best scenery and hiking in Alaska.
In the winter, dog sledding, snow-shoeing, and cross-country skiing are popular activities as well. Dogs are more than welcome to come with you to this campground, but they must wear their leash while they are at the campground and around public areas. Once you are in the countryside, your dog is allowed off leash, but they must listen and respond to voice commands well. There are bears and wildlife in this area, so you may want to keep your dog on a leash just in case.
Overall, this campground is quiet, beautiful, and easy to access. You can opt to camp in a tent or stay in one of their cabins, many of which have fireplaces to use during the winter! You and your dog will love this rugged and exciting camping experience. Just remember to bring your poop bags and clean up after your dog when they go to the bathroom.
