North Canyon Campground

Do you like camping near scenic lakes surrounded by mountain peaks? If that sounds like your kind of destination, North Canyon Campground in southern Colorado has what you seek. The Vallecito Reservoir sits right beside the grounds with beautiful willow trees lining the shores. Ponderosa pine trees grow all through the facility, dividing the sites and offering some privacy as well.

There are 21 sites at North Canyon Campground, 12 of which can be reserved ahead of time. Larger rigs (up to 34 feet) will be able to fit on a few of the sites, though no hookups are offered here. Each site comes with a fire ring and a picnic table, and all are priced at $16 per night. Thankfully, even though the campground is fairly bare-bones, it still provides drinking water on the premises, saving you the hassle of lugging in your own. 

The reservoir is the main draw to this campground, and all kinds of activities are permitted out on the water. Spend your days here boating, fishing, or water skiing, with rentals being available at multiple locations. There are many varieties of trout, salmon, and pike here, so you might even be able to catch your dinner! Be sure to take your pooch on some of the many trails in the area during your stay.

Doggos are allowed in North Canyon Campground, but the leash regulations are not clear. We suggest you bring a standard leash along and keep your pupper with you at all times, not allowing them to roam into other campsites. Also, to keep canines welcome at this facility, be sure to pick up all of your pup's waste throughout your stay and dispose of it in the appropriate place.
