Description
Oreville Campground is located in Black Hills National Forest in South Dakota. The forest is a whopping 1.25 million acres with an abundance of wildlife and diverse landscape. Oreville is a small campground with only twenty-six sites. The usage at the campsite is light, so you will never feel overly crowded with people. The sites are spacious as well and offer privacy from the other campers. Peak season runs from May to September, so you can expect the most crowds during this time of year.

The campsites all sit tucked away in a scenic hillside with lots of towering trees for shade, but open and grassy areas exist here too. In the national forest, you will be able to explore cool rock formations, canyons, grasslands, streams, lakes, caves, and forests. With so much to see, you will never get bored! Some of the most popular activities in the area include nature viewing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking, wildlife viewing, birding, and off-roading. You can pick any of the hundreds of trails to wander with your loved ones and pup and then end your day with a campfire, smores, and star-gazing at your hillside campsite.

At the actual campground, you can opt for tent, trailer, or RV camping. Picnic tables, campfire rings, vault toilets, and fresh drinking water are available for your use as well. There are no electrical hookups, Wi-Fi, or showers at this location. Oreville is a dog-friendly campground, but there is a pet fee. You are expected to clean up after your dog and discard poop bags properly as this helps keep the campground clean, safe, and sanitary for the other dogs and guests. Always make sure your pooch has cold water and a shady place to sleep and relax, so they do not overheat.

Overall, Oreville is a beautiful campground if you are looking to camp with few amenities, but want endless, easy access to heaps of trails and scenic views. Although you may hear some noise from a nearby highway, the sites are still peaceful and filled with nature and wildlife!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
