Description

Porcupine Campground is a fun, beautiful campground located within Bighorn National Forest. This pet-friendly campground has 16 campsites, two of which are tent-only, and the daily fee at the campground is $17.00. While you’re at Porcupine Campground, you and your pup will be able to find tons of fun things to do together!

If you’d like to go hiking during your camping trip, Porcupine Campground is just down the road from Jaws Trailhead. At this trailhead, you can access the Bucking Mule Falls Trail. This 4.3-mile out-and-back trail takes you along beautiful Porcupine Creek and past lovely Bucking Mule Waterfall. As you’re hiking up the trail, you’ll get stunning views of the nearby mountains and rock formations.

Porcupine Campground is also just a short drive from Medicine Wheel National Historic Landmark, a sacred Native American site. The Medicine Wheel is at least a few hundred years old, and local tribes still use the site in their ceremonies. There are signs throughout the site that discuss the fascinating history of the Medicine Wheel, and there are also interpreters on-site. Dogs are welcome to join you on-leash at this historic landmark — they just aren’t allowed on the path that goes around the Medicine Wheel.

After you’ve finished your adventures for the day, you and your pup can relax and enjoy the amenities at Porcupine Campground. Each campsite comes with its own picnic table and charcoal grill where you can cook burgers or hot dogs for you and your pup. You'll also have your own campfire ring, and there’s a firewood vendor at the campground. If you get thirsty, drinking water is available at the campground.

Porcupine Campground is a furrific campground that’s close to unique natural and historical sites. Remember to bring doggy bags so you can clean up after your dog while you’re camping, and enjoy your trip to this pawsitively amazing campground!
