Description

Prairie Flower Recreation Area is a pawesome campground located on the scenic 26,000-acre Saylorville Lake. This large campground offers 153 individual campsites and 10 group campsites, all of which have electric hookups. Pups are welcome to join you at this campground on-leash, and the nightly rate at this furrific campground is $20 for individual campsites.

If you and your pup enjoy hiking together, check out the Neil Smith Trail. This 24-mile National Recreation Trail runs along Saylorville Lake, and it passes through Prairie Flower Recreation Area. As you walk along this lovely trail, you’ll get stunning views of Saylorville Lake, and you’ll also pass by a butterfly garden, a wildlife refuge, and plenty of picnic areas where you can stop for a scenic lunch. You and your dog will have a great time exploring this fun trail!

Prairie Flower Recreation Area also has plenty to offer boaters and fishermen. If you’re bringing a boat, the campground has a boat ramp you can use on Saylorville Lake. The campground also has a fishing dock where you can try your luck fishing for walleye, largemouth bass, crappie, and northern pike. You can also go for a refreshing swim in the lake if you’d like.

After you’ve finished with your day’s adventures, you and your pup can relax and enjoy the amenities at the campground. The campground often runs educational programs that provide fascinating information about the flora and fauna in Prairie Flower Recreation Area. There are also volleyball courts and disc ball courts close to the campground. Each campsite also comes with a campfire ring with a grill grate, and firewood is also available to purchase. Please don't bring your own firewood, as this can spread harmful pests.
