If riverside camping in the Idaho woodlands sounds like your kind of pastime, you’ll definitely want to check out Priest River Campground, also known as "Mudhole" to locals. The campground sits in a dense forest beside the river that gives it its name, a perfect setting for leaving the stresses of daily life behind and experiencing the great outdoors. Because the campground welcomes pets, you can even enjoy the company of your dog while you camp!
The campground has 20 pawesome campsites, and the nightly fee for a site is $21. Each site has a picnic table and campfire ring with grill. You can also find security lights, hot showers, drinking water, flushing toilets, and a playground on the premises.
One way to spend your time during your stay is to explore the area’s outdoor activities, and a good place to start is Priest River, a furrific location for boating, swimming, and fishing. For more aquatic activities, you can head over to the Pend Oreille River, which is just a bone's throw away from your campsite.Â
For a scenic hike through the area’s scenic forest, you and your pooch can head to Round Lake Trail — it has an amazing view of the lake it’s named after! This is an easy, dog-friendly loop trail that circles through the woods around Round Lake for ruffly two miles. Note that your furry friend will need to stay leashed on this trail. Another popular location for hiking is Greta’s Segway Trail. This two-mile, out-and-back trail has a woodland setting and allows dogs!
Throughout your stay at Priest Campground, please respect its on-leash policy for pets. Also remember to clean up after your dog. Please note that there are no electric hookups for RVs at the campground. Also, the campground can only be used for overnight camping — day use is prohibited.
