Description
Purgatoire Campground is located in the Culebra Range of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains in Colorado. The campground is hidden away near the Purgatoire River, making it the perfect location to pitch a tent and have an awesome time outdoors.

It is a smaller, primitive site that is in two loops. One of the sites is located in a green and grassy meadow with tons of sunlight. The other site is located in the woods with lots of trees and shade, so there is a site for everyone's liking. With forests, and mountains, and rivers, this scenic location is a nature lover's dream.

As far as the actual campground, do not expect tons of luxurious amenities since this is a primitive, back-to-nature campground. You will have access to campfire rings, fresh drinking water, a picnic area for eating, trash pickup, and pit toilets. There is no shower, WiFi, electricity, or flushing toilets at this location. The peak season for this campground is September to June, but they are open all season long for you to enjoy at any time of the year.

Dogs are allowed at this site, but you should keep them on a leash when they are not in your tent. No poop bags are provided either, so make sure you bring your own so you can clean up after your pup. Throw bags away in the trash so you keep this park and campground clean, sanitary, and beautiful.

Overall, Purgatoire Campground is a great site if you are looking for the true camping experience with no electricity, internet access, or modern-day luxurious. With the beautiful landscape, fishing, and hiking opportunities, you and your dog will have a fantastic time camping here!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
