R & D Family Campground

Dog lovers who have visited R & D Family Campground commend the dog-friendly atmosphere found within the grounds. Located in Virginia, safely situated far from busy city life, is R & D Family Campground. Here, dogs are welcome to explore the campground alongside their owners while on-leash. You're expected to clean up any messes made by your pooch and manage their behavior.

There are a variety of accommodations for you to choose from to meet both your needs and those of your four-legged companion. For starters, primitive tent sites are available, which are located in a forested area with lots of space and shade. Tent sites are only $27 and offer campers a classic primitive camping experience.

More modernized sites for camping vehicles are available as well. RV sites can either come with all hookups, or just water and electricity. The water and electric sites are perfect for campers in smaller rigs or vehicles. Cabins are also offered for rent, but only if Fido isn't tagging along for this vacation.

If you're looking for ways to occupy your pooch, check out the hiking trail running along the north side of the campground. The trail is an easy walk intended for novice hikers and is less than a mile in length. If you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of some good ol' Virginian wildlife while you undertake your journey through the wooded trail. Some wildlife to be on the lookout for while walking your companion include minks, turtles, salamanders, and tree frogs. After your hike, enjoy a dip in the pool, but be aware that dogs aren't allowed in the pool area.  

To add comfort to your vacation, enjoy the many amenities offered at the campground. Each campsite comes with a fire ring so you can sit back and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature while the warm flames keep you cozy. If your pup is used to the busyness of city life, they’ll certainly find it relaxing to hear nothing but the comforting sounds of nature. Not to mention there's also a dumping station, vending machines, rental equipment, and propane grills as well as hot showers and clean washroom facilities.
