Description

Lake Pend Oreille is one of Idaho’s top destinations for campers and outdoor enthusiasts. It is known for its clear waters and tranquil setting, as well as the numerous campgrounds along its shoreline, which stretches over 125 miles. One of the most popular campgrounds on the lake is Sam Owen Campground. In addition to its great views of the lake and scenic woodland surroundings, the campground features top-notch amenities that ensure campers have access to everything they need for a pleasant experience. Best of all, Sam Owen Campground welcomes furry paws! You can enjoy the company of your dog throughout your stay.

The campsites at Sam Owen are arranged around 4 loops, and there are 80 campsites altogether. Each site has its own campfire ring and picnic table, and the nightly fee for a site ranges from $20 to $22. Cedar and pine trees around the campground provide the sites with ample shade and privacy. Other amenities on the premises include an amphitheater, a boat ramp for the lake, a dump station, flush toilets, and drinking water. Guests note that the restroom facilities are clean, well-stocked, and accessible for those with disabilities.

As you might expect from this lakeside oasis, the campground is a wonderful place to relax and immerse yourself in nature. But you might want to venture out to explore the surrounding area. There are numerous outdoor recreation sites near the campground, including Lake Pend Oreille itself, which is a great place to fish, swim, or boat. Sam Owen Game Preserve, just a bone's throw away from the campground, is a furrific place to exercise and get up close and personal with local wildlife.

Sam Owen Campground requires that dogs remain leashed at all times. Please respect this rule, and also remember to clean up after your dog. If you plan on camping in an RV, you should note that the campground does not have electrical hookups and plan accordingly.

If you're looking to enjoy a digital detox with your canine companion by your side, you've found the pawfect place! (When we say digital detox, we mean it -- the cell phone reception at Sam Owen Campground is spotty at best, so keep that in mind if you need to stay contactable.)

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
