Description

Shafer Butte Campground is a pleasant camping destination in Idaho’s Boise National Forest. The campground rests at an elevation of over 7,000 feet among the Boise Ridge Mountains, an amazing backdrop for camping and outdoor recreation. Shafer Butte Campground welcomes dogs, so you and your canine companion will have a furrific time camping out and exploring the area!

There are nine sites at Shafer Butte Campground, and the nightly fee for a site is just $10. The campground also offers a day-use rate of $5. The sites are partially shaded and have campfire rings, tent pads, and picnic tables. The campground also has vault restrooms, parking spurs, and trash collection. The campsites have nice views of the surrounding mountain range, and the campground overlooks a valley.

You and your pooch will have lots to do while you’re camping at Shafer Butte. The campground is a nice place to unwind and take in the scenery, but for some more exciting activities, you’ll have to venture out into the surrounding area. You can head over to Cervidae Peak Trail for some great hiking with your dog. The trail runs over four miles, and it is considered a challenging trail because it is relatively steep and rocky. For a more relaxing hike, you can try Bridge Hot Springs. This is a short trail at just over a mile, but it leads to secluded hot springs where you can take a relaxing dip!

When you’re camping out at Shafer Butte, remember that your furry friend must remain leashed at all times. Also note that there are no electric hookups for RVs at this campground. The picnic sites at the campground are not reservable, and they can only be used during the day. Please remember to bring all the drinking water you will need, since water is unavailable on the premises.

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
