Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure RV Park

Southern Gap Outdoor Adventure RV Park is ideal for camping enthusiasts looking for more than just the traditional tenting experience. Southern Gap "off-furs" both guests and their pups a touch of modernity in scenic Virginia. 

Here, pups are welcomed with open paws, and they’re permitted in all camping accommodations, including the cabins. When staying in cabins, there's a pet fee of $50 to cover the cost of cleaning. If you bring your pooch, remember to also bring along a short leash and waste bags. Be sure your pup is well-behaved, cleaned up after in a timely manner, and remains on their leash at all times. They're not permitted in the bathhouse, and you're never to leave them alone. No dog breed restrictions apply at Southern Gap.

This campground easily accommodates the diverse needs of campers by offering sites for RVs and tents as well as cabin rentals. Cabins vary in size and amenities but the standard cabin sleeps 7-10 campers (and their pooch) and costs $130 per night. (This rate will vary based on the season.) Tent camping, on the other hand, is much more economically priced at $20 per night for primitive sites. RV sites come with the amenities offered in cabins, and water, electric, and sewage hookups are included. All campers have access to the bathhouse. Campfires are permitted, but only in designated fire pits.

Southern Gap is located in the mountains of southwestern Virginia, giving campers access to the Spearhead Trail system via the Coal Canyon Trail. This trail is connected to a series of others designed for off-highway vehicles. Some of the connecting trails are intended for hikers. This is the pawfect opportunity for you and your pooch to discover the wildlife and vegetation abundant on the mountainside. More information about the trail system is provided at the campground. Permits are required to use OHVs on the trails, but day passes are offered at the campground. 

Back at the campground, there's currently a new visitors' center being built that's over 7,000 square feet. The center will give guests the chance to view both the wildlife and scenic outdoors from observation areas. Other fun activities include elk viewing, archery, and snow tubing (seasonal).
