Thompson Flat

Thompson Flat Campground in southern Idaho is a wonderful destination where you can camp out among the Albion Mountains and enjoy the company of your dog! This furrific campground welcomes people and pooches alike on its beautiful premises, and you’re sure to love its useful amenities and scenic views of the surrounding woodlands and mountains. You and your dog can find lots of fun activities in the area around the campground as well, so you’ll have lots of ways to explore Sawtooth National Forest.

Thompson Flat’s 11 sites give you a few different camping styles to choose from. The campsite choices are standard, standard double, and group, and the nightly fees are $8, $16, and $50, respectively. The three group sites can accommodate 40, 56, and 64 campers. The campsites have a basic setup that includes a fire pit with grill and picnic table. On the campground’s premises, you can also access vault-style restrooms and a picnic area.

There are numerous activities you can enjoy in the area. If you and your pooch want to stretch your legs and immerse yourselves in the area’s beautiful scenery, you can head to Harrison Fire Lookout. This dog-friendly, out-and-back trail runs a little over two miles, and it curves up to the lookout point at the top of the mountain, where you get a spectacular view of the surrounding mountain range — all of your friends will be jealous when you post the amazing pictures you took! You can also visit Pomerelle Ski Area near the campground for a chairlift ride.

Please make sure your waggy friend stays on-leash throughout your visit to Thompson Flat. Also remember to clean up after your pooch at the campground. Note that the opening and closing dates for Thompson Flat Campground vary depending on the weather; it is normally open between early July and October.
