You can camp almost anywhere in the park, but the most popular place for camping in Thumb Cove is along the beaches. There are also two cabins available for rent in the park, if tent camping is not for you.
Boating, salmon fishing, and hiking are the most popular activities in this park. Campers will have access to a pit toilet, campfire rings, and water access for drinking. There are no showers or other types of amenities since this is a bare-bones campground, truly meant to give you the ultimate camping experience. You can find plenty of places to set up camp that are either in the shade or the sunlight depending on what you are looking for.
You are more than welcome to bring your dog, since this is a dog-friendly park and campground. There are no provided poop bags, so make sure you bring your own to clean up after your dog. Although there do not appear to be rules about keeping your dog on a leash, we recommend you do since there is wildlife in the area and you will want to keep your dog safe and close to you.
Overall, Thumb Cove is a perfect camping spot if you don't want a ton of amenities and want one of the most scenic and beautiful camp spots in Alaska with stunning mountain views, water, and forest. You cannot go wrong with camping here and you and your pup are sure to love it!
