As its name suggests, Upper Payette Lake Campground is a beautiful campground located by the Upper Payette Lake. It offers a prime location for hiking, fishing, and canoeing. The dog-friendly campground consists of several single-family and double sites and two group campsites; each group site can host between 20 and 30 people. The campground is bound by a beautiful pine forest and overlooks a lake, as well as some mountains in the distance, making it a truly relaxing destination for a weekend away with your family and canine companion.
The first-come-first-served campground is easily accessible, as are the roads that lead to the campground and the parking spurs, which are gravel and mostly level. Upper Payette Lake Campground is ADA-accessible and equipped with vault toilets and drinking water. There is also a boat ramp on-site, which is very convenient for those who enjoy canoeing and kayaking. Although most of the sites sit by the lake, only some of them offer shoreline access. There are no water, sewer, or electricity hookups available. Since there is no dump site either, make sure to pack plastic bags for trash and doggie waste.
There are 20 sites that can accommodate both RV and tent camping, 13 of which are single sites, and the other seven are double sites. There are three pull-through sites.Ā All of the sites are partially shaded thanks to the mature trees that grow nearby. Each campsite comes with a tent pad, a fire ring, a grill, and a picnic table. Site rates start at $10 for single sites and $20 for group sites.
There are numerous hiking and biking trails nearby, some of which start right at the campgroundās entrance. This includes the paved Shoreline Trail that starts at the campground and runs one mile through beautiful woods and offers plenty of wildlife viewing opportunities. The on-site hosts are very helpful and knowledgeable, so feel free to ask them for recommendations for nearby attractions.
