Proudly pet-friendly and boasting a lovely location in North Fork, Idaho, Wagonhammer RV Park & Campground overlooks the Salmon River.
There's a lot to be said for the relaxation provided by being able to camp beside a running river, while the surrounding mountainous terrain creates an impressive backdrop. The park features 52 sites and teepee camping rentals spread around a quiet and scenic campground.
More about the facilities at Wagonhammer RV Park & Campground in a minute, but first, we should point out that this park prides itself on being a pet-friendly destination. Leashed dogs are welcome on pet-friendly sites, while there's also an off-leash island with its own nature trail where dogs can go exploring. There's even a pond where your pooch can cool off in the summer months, making this a campground where your furry friend should feel right at home.
Sites are level and easy to access, and many are positioned to make the most of the river frontage. That said, it's worth looking at the campground map before booking your spot and trying to snap up a front-row site if you can.
You can swim in the river if you need to escape the heat, but be warned that there are no lifeguards on duty. Of course, the park's waterfront location can also means that gnats and mosquitoes are an annoyance in warmer weather, so don't forget your insect repellent.
30-amp and 50-amp services are available, with full and partial hookups on offer for RVs and trailers. Sites start from $37 a day. Tent sites ($16 a day) are also available for those seeking a slightly more rustic camping experience, while the bathrooms are modern and clean. A boat launch is also provided if you want to get out on the river.
While wireless internet is available, the park's location in a valley surrounded by mountains means reception is patchy. As a result, there's a free high-speed Wi-Fi hotspot provided in the lodge, which also boasts an open fireplace and is a popular spot for card games and other social gatherings. There's even an on-site gift shop with an eclectic collection of art, jewelry, collectibles, food, alcohol, and RV supplies.
Wagonhammer RV Park & Campground is a great little park in a lovely location. If you're on the hunt for a riverfront site where you can camp with your canine pal, it's definitely worth a visit.
