Wallashuck Campground, located in Pella, Iowa, is a wonderful destination for your next camping trip. It rests beside Lake Red Rock to the southeast of Des Moines, and this location allows you to enjoy views of picturesque blue waters and fun activities at the lake like swimming, boating, and fishing. Another thing you can enjoy is the company of your dog—the campground welcomes furry paws!
You and your dog will love the atmosphere at the campground. Wallashuck Campground has 83 sites, and all of the sites are equipped with electric hookups. The nightly fee for one site is $20, and a site can accommodate up to eight campers. On the premises, you’ll find some pawesome amenities including picnic shelters, showers, drinking water, and even a playground!
You might want to get out and explore some of the great activities the area has to offer. The lake is an obvious choice for aquatic activities, and it features a network of water trails that paddlers will enjoy. The area around the lake has a few furrifically dog-friendly trails where you and your pooch can enjoy a short stroll or a challenging hike. A popular paved trail nearby is the Volksweg Trail. This route runs for over 11 miles along the lake’s east side. The trail has a moderate incline, but the slope is gradual, so a walk here should be accessible for most ages and abilities. Cedar Bluffs Trail is another excellent option. It runs for just under two miles and passes through the scenic woodlands south of the lake. Just make sure to check for ticks after visiting this one!
If you’re staying at Wallashuck Campground, please make sure you adhere to all of its rules. Dogs should be kept on-leash at all times, and remember to clean up after your dog. Note that each site can accommodate either one tent and one vehicle or two tents.
