Willow Flat Campground is a "spiritual place," according to guests, and one of the top campgrounds in Idaho’s Caribou-Targhee National Forest. It rests beside Cub River, to the west of Bear Lake. You’ll definitely want to consider Willow Flat for your next camping trip — you can even bring your pooch along to keep you company! You’ll have a pawesome time enjoying the campground’s scenic setting and exploring some of the great dog-friendly activities nearby.
The campground has a variety of sites you can choose from. Tent-only standard sites are the most basic offering and cost $17 per night. Double sites are available for $28 per night, and you can also choose from a variety of group sites ranging in price from $28 to $87. The smallest group site can accommodate 24 people, the largest can accommodate 100 campers and their canines. The campsites have picnic tables and fire rings, and you can find vault restrooms, drinking water, and an amphitheater on the premises as well. Guests note that the drinking water is turned off in the winter months.
There are lots of things you can do with your dog around the campground. The area is known for its great hiking trails with scenic views. Paris Peaks Trail is a popular trail near the campground that welcomes furry paws. The trail spans just under seven miles and has an elevation gain of about 1,500 feet. The first few miles are relatively easy, but after that, the trail becomes more difficult. The Cub River next to the campground provides a nice opportunity for trout fishing, and there is another good trail near the river, the appropriately named Cub River Trail.
When you’re staying at Willow Flat Campground, your pooch will have to remain on-leash. Please clean up after your furry friend as well. If you plan on bringing a second vehicle to the campground, you will have to pay a fee of $6.
