Anderson Mill Limited District Dog Park

The Andersen Mill Limited District Dog (AMLD) Park is an off-leash dog park located in Austin, Texas. One of two dog parks provided by the Andersen Mill Limited District government parks agency, this dog park is part of the Millrun Park while the second off-leash area is situated in the Old Stage Park. Keeping a dog leashed until inside the designated off-leash area is essential in Austin or owners could find themselves facing a $500 fine.

Pet parents are required to purchase a gate key to use this dog park in Austin. After providing proof of vaccinations and a current license, there is a $25 resident fee to pay. For non-residents, the cost is $35. The validity of the key expires in May no matter what month of the year it was purchased in. 

It is recommended to make the application at the beginning of June to get better value for money. Keys are obtained from the AMLD community center. This dog park in Austin is not one of the busiest in the city. Size-wise it can prove to be a little restrictive for big breeds with an excess of energy but its great for medium-sized pups and their miniature counterparts. 

If large breed owners do use the facility, they need to be extra vigilant their furry friend doesn't get too boisterous with the little chaps as there is no segregated zone for them. Damage can easily be done even when it's completely unintentional, and mini mutts don't always bounce right back when they've been bowled over. 

The ground covering in this dog park is of natural grass with some stony areas which can prove to be a bit rough for pups with delicate paw pads. So rather than throwing a disc or ball for their pup, owners mind find it wiser to leave a dog to jog along with the rest of the gang at its own speed while pup parent concentrates on picking up poop.
