Arbor Lodge Park has a total area of 8.4 acres, one acre of which is designated just for the off-leash dog area. Next to the tennis courts in the corner of the park, it is an excellent place for pooches to get ample exercise and loads of fun with their pet parents and other canines. The sprawling park features other amenities such as picnic tables, playgrounds for children, tennis courts, softball field, horseshoe pit, and paved paths.
There are no dogs allowed in the sandbox or on any synthetic surfaces for sanitary reasons. There is water available for dogs at the Arbor Lodge Park, so pet parents need not worry about having to bring an extra container for hydration. There is also an accessible restroom in the park, so having to go to the toilet is also not an issue.
One warning for dog owners is that the off-leash area is bounded by a paved path often used by bicycle commuters who tend to ride rapidly through the park, so it is a must to be very careful if you have a dog that has a chasing compulsion. This beautiful neighborhood park is excellent for families, dog lovers, children, and people with disabilities.
Volunteers do maintenance, and they do an outstanding job of it without the use of pesticides, even when removing weeds. Each year there is the Sundays Parkways Event, which includes the Arbor Lodge as one of the connecting parks for bike-only street hours. The Arbor Lodge Park is a well-loved and cared for place for everyone.
There are food trucks, non-profit and neighborhood booths, as well as live music, so everyone is guaranteed a jolly good time. However, pet parents might want to avoid the park during this time due to the crowds. The Arbor Lodge Park is over 60 years old and is considered a neighborhood treasure, especially by pet parents who love taking their pooches there whenever they have free time.
