Avalon Dog Park

Avalon Dog Park, inside the Tanja King Park, is an oasis for doggos who love to run, wrestle, fetch and do other crazy stuff they can't do on a leash. While their doggy parents' main motivation may be to socialize their puppers, for the dogs, it's all about play and fun. And there's pawlenty of room for that in this neat, rectangular park! Shaded by trees, with its chain link fence nicely hidden by some mature, strategically planted shrubs, it can be an oasis for the pups' humans too as they relax and make new friends. There's no stress about parking as the Tanja King Park provides a large free lot near where the dog park sits at the far left end.

Amenities abound at Avalon Dog Park, including benches for the 2-legged members of the family, and a water tower that provides refreshment for the pups, as well as a convenient dog-washing station. The water tower is also where pup-parents fill the water bowls scattered around the playground. There are also 5 pet waste stations: 4 inside the dog park and 1 outside near the entrance. Human restrooms can be found in the main park, and you can breathe easy knowing the larger park and dog park are smoke-free. Pawesome! 

The double-gate entry is secure, but it's important to remember to keep Fido's leash on until you both enter the inside yard. Small dogs mingle with the large puppers, so please be aware of what your dog is doing, where they are, and if intervention is needed. Also, large birds have been known to circle above the dog park, so don't put your teacup poodle in danger, standing alone and unguarded in the middle of the park. One of the unusual amenities featured at Avalon is leash stations, although if you need your leash fast, it might not be the best place for it to be, hanging on the fence. Another unusual feature is the paved path inside the dog park for when your pup might need a "time out" and a slow, quiet walk is a good way to do that. Genius!
