One of eight official dog off-leash areas in Bend, Oregon, the Awbrey Reservoir offers a large Off-Leash Area that's a pawtastic spot to go for a walk and get some exercise with your furry friend. Located immediately east of Hillside I Park, this 5-acre site features short trails and natural terrain that will keep your pup's tail wagging!
The Awbrey Reservoir Off-Leash Area is largely undeveloped, with limited on-street parking and minimal amenities. There are no mutt mitt dispensers or water on-site, so don't forget to bring your own! But with plenty of room for four-legged parkgoers to run and sniff to their heart's content, Awbrey Reservoir has become a prefurred dog walking destination for many Bendites. Don't worry about crowds, though—the park is nice and isolated, making it pawfect for peaceful strolls in nature with your canine pal. Enjoy puptacular views of the old mill district from on high, and be sure to wear good shoes as the area can be rocky and hilly in some places.
It is impawtant to note that the park is mostly unfenced, so it is recommended to only bring your pooch here if they have good recall. Make sure Fido can see and hear you at all times when you're at Awbrey Reservoir, and never let them wander off on their own. Stay within the designated off leash area. Check the website for a map of the Reservoir. The park is mostly desert and there are no grassy areas, so be sure to have wet wipes handy for cleaning up your dusty pup before heading home. And while there are trees in the area, a large portion of the site is exposed, so it would be best to stop by when the sun isn't too strong to prevent hot paws. Be sure to have drinking water on hand.Â
For a fun, leash-free time in Bend, bring your furry BFF to the Awbrey Reservoir Off-Leash Area!
