Barrett Township Dog Park (Gravel Family Preserve)

Does your pup have a ton of energy to spare? Let them run it off at the Barrett Township Dog Park! Situated on the Gravel Family Preserve, this 2-acre site is the pawfect spot for your high-energy pooch to get some much-needed exercise, and make new friends while they're at it!

Opened to the public in 2017, the Barrett Township Dog Park welcomes four-legged visitors of all sizes. It offers one enclosure for smaller dogs that weigh less than 35 pounds, and another one for larger canines. Both sections are completely fenced in and each has its own double-gated entrance to prevent mischievous pups from escaping. After making it past the gates, you'll walk through a small wooded area before reaching the large, grassy space where your furry pal can romp and run to their heart's content.

You'll find shaded and sunny parts at this dog park, as well as benches to sit on while you're watching Fido. Trash cans are also provided, but you will have to bring your own doggie waste bags and drinking water. Agility equipment seems to be available seasonally—while some pups were able to play with tunnels and hurdles in the past, some dog parents say they did not see any when they stopped by. Don't forget to check the bulletin board by the main gate for upcoming events and other announcements!

If playing at the dog park hasn't tired Fido out completely, you may want to explore other parts of the 170-acre preserve by hitting the hiking trail. The trail begins at the metal gate and weaves through wetlands and blueberry fields, and doggos are allowed to tag along as long as they are leashed. Whether you stick to the dog park or check out the rest of the preserve, always clean up after your canine companion.
