Is your doggo ready for their next adventure? Then grab the leash and head over to Battle Ground Lake State Park. Nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, this woofderful park surrounds a beautiful lake and has miles of hiking trails your pooch is going to love!
When your pup
arrives at this park, they will pawbably want to start hiking right away, so it’s
a good thing that there are 10 miles of hiking trails to explore. For a quick
loop around the lake, follow the one mile Lower Lake Trail. Your pupster can enjoy lakeside views while getting their exercise. Since it has more of an incline,
Upper Lake Trail is a bit more challenging. It’s just over a mile and also worth
checking out. To learn about the area, hop on the interpretive trail. No matter
where you hike, be sure you have plenty of water for you and your pup.
Your dog will
love this place so much they will want to stay the night. Bring a couple
sleeping bags and grab one of the campsites that can accommodate tents
and RVs. If you really want to ruff it, spend the night in one of the primitive
sites. They are a half mile away from the parking lot, so your furry friend
will get some peace and quiet.
Battle Ground
Lake State Park is also a puptacular fishing locale. The lake is spring fed and
is stocked with rainbow trout. Bring your rod and reel along to see if you
can pull in a whopper! The park also has picnic shelters, horse trails,
horseshoe pits, a baseball field, and a volleyball court. Don't furget the clean-up bags and always do your part to keep
the park free of doggy debris by stooping and scooping.
