Bayou Segnette State Park

If your pooch is looking for a furrific weekend getaway, check out Bayou Segnette State Park. This woofderful park has plenty of opportunities to have fun in the sun, as well as quiet places where your pup can relax and enjoy the beautiful landscape and admire the wonders of nature. Plus, the park is just a 30 minute drive from New Orleans.

Bayou Segnette State Park is well known for its wave pool. And two legged children love the playground in the day use area. Boating is also a pupular activity. The park has five boat slips, a cleaning station, and a floating dock. Due to the park’s interesting location, both saltwater and freshwater fishing are available. Bring your pole, and with any luck, you and your pup will enjoy a tasty fish dinner!

Besides all of these puptacular amenities, the park also has furrific trails. For a quick stroll, check out Wildcat Walk, Raccoon Right of Way, or West-We-Go Trail. All three of these trails are around half a mile and weave throughout the woods and around the picnic area. The Marcello Canal Trail clocks in at 1.5 miles. It runs along the canal and has a few stretches of boardwalk. This pawsome trail lets your pooch get a taste of the park’s wildlife. Trees, plants, and little critters make up the swamp and marshland ecosystems. Remember to always have a clean up bag on hand and ready to go.

After a day of exploring, your pup will be glad to relax in one of the park’s campsites. Each site has electricity, water, a picnic table, a grill, and a fire pit. Laundry facilities and hot showers are available. 

Always keep your furry explorer on leash wherever you roam, and leave nothing behind. Be sure to bring clean-up bags for easy pick-up, and plenty of water to share with your pooch.
