Best Friends Dog Park (at Chaplin Community Park)

 Is your furry BFF itching to ditch the leash? Then bring them to the Best Friends Dog Park! Situated on the eastern side of the Chaplin Community Park, this aptly named puppy playground provides a safe environment for your pooch to run and play off-leash. With lots of shade and great amenities, it has become the prefurred hangout of many local canines and their humans. Once you and Fido visit this place, it'll become one of your favorite spots on the island, too!

The biggest dog park on Hilton Head Island, the Best Friends Dog Park comprises two separate areas for large and small woofers. Both sections are completely fenced and have a double-gated entry, so you can rest easy while your four-legged buddy sniffs and roams around. Don't get too lax, though—all dog parents are expected to keep an eye on their charges so that everyone has a pawsitive experience. Gently remind your pup to mind their manners if necessary, and clean up after them immediately if they answer the call of nature; waste bags and trash cans are provided for your convenience.

Other park amenities include a walking path, benches, water fountains, and plenty of tennis balls. And since the area is wooded, it is nicely shaded all over and your pooch can still have a doggone good time during the warmer months. There isn't much grass, though, so have wet wipes handy to clean off your doggo's paws when it's time to go home. Visitors also recommend bringing insect repellent to ward off mosquitoes.

If your pup still has leftover energy after playing in the dog park, take them for a leashed stroll on the Chaplin Community Park trails or a seaside romp on the adjacent beach. Be sure to check the designated times for canine beachgoers first!
