Kings Mountain State Park

This South Carolina State Park is covered with miles of forest and trails filled with all types of flora, woodland creatures, and nature to see. It includes two, rather large-size fishing lakes and a National Military Park that was one of the sites of the Revolutionary War. This dog-friendly state park has no off-leash area, however, dogs are allowed in most outdoor common areas as long as they are leashed and their owner remains in control of them at all times. Pets are not allowed in or around the historic cabins or lodging facilities in the area.

Piedmont’s Kings Mountain State Park offers great amenities and activities to do including camping (RV or tent), hiking, picnicking, horse trails, fishing, boating, swimming, and tourism. Piedmont’s 1800’s farm is just one of those great locations to tour in the park. There is also boating, boat rentals, swimming areas, and a whole slew of fun for you and dog. Keep in mind your dog should be on a 6 foot or less sized leash. 

The only big rule is that pets must be leashed or restrained at all times. This also means dog crates are okay for those who stay overnight at the campgrounds. Also, it’s important to clean up after yourself and your pet. This state-protected park prides itself on its cleanliness and beautiful area. There are restrooms, picnic shelters, and lodging available at this park. 

Overall, there are are many miles to explore and play with your dog. You and your pet will love the trails and hiking paths as you explore this historic state park.
