Description

Blue Knob State Park in Southern Pennsylvania has over 6,000 acres of outdoor recreation area. The park gets its name for Blue Knob, the second highest mountain in Pennsylvania, at over 3,000 feet. The park offers opportunities for outdoor fun all year-round. Blue Knob resort also has a golf course, a swimming pool, and tennis courts. The swimming pool is open between Memorial Day and Labor Day, weather permitting.

Blue Knob State Park is home to Blue Knob All Seasons Resort, which is the ski slope with the highest elevation in the state. The resort includes 36 sloped trails for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing, as well as trails for hiking and mountain biking. For guests with horses, there are equestrian trails. Horses are also permitted on park roads. For the more experienced hiker, the Lost Turkey Trail, which is 26 miles long, runs through the park.

Blue Knob State Park has 50 tent and trailer sites, open from mid-April to mid-October. Most come equipped with electric hookups, and water, a dump station, restrooms, and a playground are also available in the campground. There are also three cabins and a house available for rental from mid-April through the last weekend of October. The cabins have electric heat, two bedrooms, a kitchen, living room, and bathroom. The house is available all year-round and will sleep up to eight people.

Pets are permitted in Blue Knob State Park in day-use areas, pet-friendly campsites and cabins, and all other areas not off-limits to pets. Dogs are not allowed to be in swimming areas or inside any buildings. Dogs have to remain leashed and under control at all times, either on a leash or inside a crate. Tethers aren’t allowed, and pets cannot be left unattended.

Visitors to Blue Knob State Park should also be courteous and always clean up after your pet and keep your dog from becoming a nuisance to other visitors. Aggressive or unvaccinated dogs or those who bark excessively are not allowed inside the park. If you are in Southern Pennsylvania and looking for an all-year-round outdoor recreation area, Blue Knob State Park has lots of space and a variety of things to do.
