Description
Butler Park is right across the river from downtown Austin, and one of the favorite downtown hangs for humans and canines alike. What makes this park stand out from the rest is the gorgeous city vistas, a night-lit fountain, a pond, and lovely walking paths. The park is set up on a hill, right by the performing arts center. It has been well designed to have all kinds of interesting places to hang out, sit and reflect, or get active. Many city dwellers like to stop here for their lunch, or bring their pups through on their morning walk.

There is a parking lot on 1st Street near the bridge, where you can park for free for two hours. The lot fills up quickly, but there is more parking Town Lake Park, where you'll find a big lot and restrooms. There are plenty of nice, clean sidewalks that wind through this park. This park also offers easy access to the Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail, a 14.5 mile trail that forms a loop around Lady Bird Lake. Along the pathways, you'll find stations with waste bags to encourage dog owners to pick up after their pals. You'll be able to enjoy woofderful views of Ladybird Lake and unobstructed views of the downtown Austin skyline. The waterfront areas are overlooked by a pier, where lots of ducks like to congregate.

Some of the many other fun, family-friendly features here include a large water fountain that kiddos like to play in during the summer, picnic areas, the Butler Park Pitch and Putt, and even a large statue of Stevie Ray Vaughan. Butler Park hosts many events throughout the year, so if you're lucky you might catch a free concert or be able to grab a bite at a food truck. Bring water to share with your thirsty pup.

Dogs are welcome throughout the park as long as they stay leashed picked up after. You'll likely be able to meet other pet parents as well. Butler Park gets visitors raving and tails wagging every time!

Wag! does not allow or encourage Pet Care Providers to bring dogs to parks.
