Cadman Dog Park

If your pup needs to stretch their legs without the constraints of a leash, bring them to the Cadman Park Leash-Free Area! Located in the 5-acre Cadman Park in Clairemont, this designated canine hangout is a furrific spot for an unfettered romp. Your pooch might also meet some new furry friends while they're there—pawfect for doggos who wish to expand their social circle!

Unlike other dog parks, the Cadman Park Leash-Free Area is not an enclosed facility where canine citizens can run and play sans leash all day. Instead, it refers to an unfenced portion of the park that goes to the dogs, literally, during designated hours. You and Fido will find the off-leash area next to the children's playground. Marked by signs, the boundaries are the Cadman School fence to the north to the southern fence of the park to the south, and from the southwest corner of the tennis court to the east, to the top edge of the canyon to the west. Leash-free hours vary depending on the season, but generally, your pup is allowed to run loose for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple of hours in the evening.

Make sure your pooch remains leashed until they set paw inside the posted boundary for the off-leash area. Since the area is not fenced, it may be best to go for a leashed stroll around the rest of Cadman Park instead if your dog is still working on their recall. Even if Fido responds well to voice commands, it is still impawtant to keep an eye on them at all times. Don't forget to stoop and scoop whenever your pupper puts something down, so be sure to have clean-up bags on hand at all times. You should also bring water to for your thirsty pup too, as this area lacks any pup amenities. 

Outside of the off-leash area and hours, canine park goers are required to stay on a leash no longer than 8 feet. If your pooch gets hungry from all that sprinting around, stop by one of the park's picnic areas for lunch with a view of Mission Bay.
