Locals have been raving about this area for dogs in Connecticut, and we understand why. The Central Bark Dog Park is a fenced off-leash area for dogs of all sizes. There are two areas, one for dogs 25 pounds and lighter and another for dogs that are over 25 pounds. When dogs of different sizes are separated, injuries and accidents are prevented.Â
We all know tiny dogs can quickly get hurt when playing with dogs that are more than twice their size. Located within the Copp Family Park, there are plenty of chairs, so pet parents have somewhere to sit on and relax while keeping a close eye on their pooches. There are chairs and tables where pet parents can even meet new people who share the same interests and maybe share their tips on doggie exercise and diet.Â
All canines must always be on their leashes when outside of the Central Bark Dog Park at Copp Family Park in Groton. There are trails nearby where you can take Spike on a walk with you if you want to clear your head, but because it is not a designated area, your fur buddy must be on a leash.
Just a short hike down the trail, the Central Bark Dog Park has dogs that will come to the gate to welcome newcomers. People and their pets are all friendly, and it is one of the best places in town for pooches to get enough exercise and to socialize with other pooches.Â
There are doggie bags in the park so that you can clean up after your furbabies. There is also a porta-potty for visitors who would like to use the toilet while in the vicinity. There is plenty of room for pooches to run around, toss tennis balls, play frisbee, and other activities. Remember that spiked, choked or pronged collars are not allowed in the park.
