Spencer’s Run Dog Park is a membership-only dog park located in the Waveny Park in New Canaan, Connecticut. In addition to the dog park, the 250-acre Waveny Park offers a variety of facilities from soccer fields, softball fields, and tennis courts to picnic areas, over three miles of walking trails, and a seasonal swimming pool.
The one and a half acre dog park was opened in July 2006 and has since become a popular destination for the dog owners in the community. The annual membership fee is $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents. After registration, patrons will receive a pin code that is required to access the off-leash area as well as an identification dog tag. Spencer’s Run is equipped with everything you would need in a dog park and according to its regulars, the registration fee is definitely worth it.
The Spencer’s Run Off-Leash Dog Park is securely fenced and provides plenty of open space for dogs of all breeds and sizes to freely run around and explore with the other canine visitors. There are dog drinking fountains, leash hooks, dog waste bag dispensers, and dog waste dumpsters for easy cleanup. There are lots of shaded benches placed throughout the park which enable owners to keep their pets in sight while they play, as well as a gazebo that provides additional shade and shelter.
Spencer’s Run Dog Park is very well-maintained; grass is cut and trimmed on a regular basis, trash cans emptied, and the regulars make sure to keep this park clean and waste-free. This grassy park is lined with tall, mature trees that dogs simply love to sniff and inspect. Due to its size and features, the dog park does get crowded on the weekends, however, it is truly a great place to socialize your dog among well-behaved canines of different breeds and sizes.
