The bustling city of San Francisco hosts several furbulous dog parks, a testament to its commitment to keeping pups and their parents happy. One of the newest is the pupular Channel Street Dog Park, a bright swath of green in the Mission Bay neighborhood. Just a short walk from scenic San Francisco Bay, the puppy playground features open running space and plenty of play pals, especially in the early morning and late afternoon. Parking is available adjacent to the park on Corinne Woods Way and El Dorado Street, and you’ll see bike racks at each end.
Channel Street Dog Park is a neat, clean spot for dog play and socialization. Its artificial turf is laid above a permeable surface so liquids don’t puddle, and the park is hosed down regularly to keep it smelling sweet. Automatic sprinklers do the job between staff cleanings. Waste bag stations and trash cans are scattered along the fence and by the gates. Don’t furget to bring along a few bags in case the supply runs out you get caught empty-pawed!
Two double gates, one at each end, ensure doggos’ safety as they enter and exit. The sturdy, high fence prevents jumpers from escaping, and a dog/human water fountain keeps everyone hydrated. Benches are spaced along the fence for the humans, and pint-sized pups are known to hop up on them to get out of the fray. Small and shy puppers get to play with the big boys in this park, so be sure your wee fur baby is okay with that. Trees and planted beds hug the outside of the fence, and there are even lights for night rompers.Â
Proper manners and etiquette are expected of dogs and people, and pup parents are responsible for curbing any aggressive behavior or digging. Your pooch can bring their favorite toy or ball if they’re okay with sharing, and only licensed and vaccinated doggos are welcome. Check out the complete rules and suggestions posted near the entrance.Â
