Although the dog park has wood fencing, chicken wire is connected to the wood fencing so even small canines cannot get through. There are separate sections for a small dog, they allow for canines under 30 lbs. on one side of the park, and the other fenced section is for all other canines.
There are dog bags available for you and your canine and tins for disposal available. Water is not available and you are recommended to bring your own water and bowl to the park to keep your canine hydrated. The "Friends of Curtis Park" is a community group that maintains the grounds and provides information to park users. The contact information for someone who can answer your questions regarding the park is located on the website.
On top of the complaints regarding violent canines, May of 2018 came some additional disaster for the park. The owner of a small Yorkie was attacked at the dog park by a larger canine. This tragic instance was preventable and does not seem like the canine had been violent at the park before, and likely thought the small Yorkie was a toy or something similar. This is why it is best to make good use of the small dog area for smaller dogs.
This dog park does have a fairly extensive set of rules posted on their website and is enforced by the local authorities. If you have any issues with other canines or dog owners calling 311 should get you in touch with someone who can come out and provide a solution.
