Dog Spot (at Creekwood Park)

The Dog Spot is a public dog park located at the Creekwood Park in Huntsville, Alabama. In addition to the dog park, the Creekwood park is home to a playground, pavilions, public restrooms and walking paths. It is 71 acres in size and features a variety of outdoor activities for each of the family members, but it is especially great for those that love to hike. 

The one-and-a-half-acre dog park that has been open since 2009 can be found near the Indian Creek Greenway. It has a well-thought-out layout that includes a large dog run and a separate section for small dog breeds under 25 pounds. Both areas provide enough space for dogs to stretch their legs and enjoy being leash-free with their four-legged friends. 

Both of the runs are also securely fenced and double-gated which helps minimize the risk of canines slipping out as other patrons enter the dog park. There are several mature trees growing around the grassy off-leash area. However, they don't provide much shade so keep that in mind when you pick a day to visit the park as it might be difficult to find a shaded spot on a sunny day. 

Make sure to pack a towel for your dog's paws as well since there is a creek that flows nearby the off-leash area that dogs often end up splashing in. The Dog Spot at Creekwood Park has water fountains which help keep canines hydrated. There are also a few covered picnic tables and benches that keep owners comfortable while they watch their dogs play and socialize. 

The Dog Spot at Creekwood Park also features agility equipment that dogs are welcome to train on. Plus, there are plenty of conveniently placed trash cans and free waste bag dispensers that are always stocked to encourage owners to clean up after their dogs. All in all, it is an excellent location for a daily dose of leash-free exercise for both you and your dog.
