Doggie Dugout is a public dog park located in the Lower Allen Community Park in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. In addition to the dog park, the community park is home to a variety of amenities and activities including several play areas, sports fields, nature trails, picnic areas, and pavilions.
It is an ideal location for a day of outdoors fun with the whole family, especially since dogs are allowed on-leash in most areas of the park and can enjoy leash-free exercise and socialization at the Doggie Dugout as well. Though there are no entrance fees, registration is required before accessing the dog park.
The four-acre Doggie Dugout dog park consists of a large, securely-fenced and double-gated dog run that is divided into two separate areas to accommodate small dog breeds and big hounds. There is also a common area with a walking trail. The park’s layout is simple but well-thought-out and provides plenty of grassy, open space for dogs to freely run around and play in.
There are water fountains, dog waste bag dispensers, and plenty of trash cans conveniently located within the dog park as well as throughout the community park. Make sure to clean up after your canine buddy and help keep this park well-maintained and poop-free. Though there aren’t many trees at the center of the dog park, there is plenty of shade that can be found around the park’s perimeter.
There is a beautiful nature trail that goes around the whole park that dog owners are welcome to bring their pooches on (as long as they are on a leash), as well as a creek that can be accessed by both humans and their four-legged counterparts. The park’s patrons are said to be very welcoming and accommodating with well-behaved dogs, so make sure to stop by this wonderful park if you live in the area.
