Doggie Dugout (at Lower Allen Community Park)

The Doggie Dugout Dog Park is the happening place for pups in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania! Located inside the spacious Lower Allen Community Park, this off leash play space is sure to help your dog get the exercise and socialization they crave.

The four-acre dog park consists of a large, securely-fenced and double-gated dog run that is divided into two separate areas, one for small pups under 30 pounds, and the other for bigger dogs. The park’s layout is simple, and provides plenty of open space for dogs to run and romp freely. The ground is soft grass that is easy on the paws. Water fountains on site ensure thirsty pups can get proper hydration. While there aren’t many trees at the center of the dog park, there are some shady spots near the park’s perimeter. Best of all for you, there are picnic tables and chairs inside the dog park for a bit of relaxation while your furry bestie plays.

Dog waste bag dispensers and plenty of trash cans are conveniently located within the dog park, as well as throughout the community park. Make sure to clean up after your canine buddy and help keep this park clean and dog-friendly. Though there are no entrance fees, registration is required before accessing the dog park. The online form must be submitted with a proof of animal license and a current vaccination record. Only spayed or neutered dogs can visit the dog park, and the city asks that no more than three dogs accompany each owner.

If your pup gets their fill of the dog park but still has some energy to spend, clip the leash back on and take a stroll through the rest of Lower Allen Community Park. Nature trails are sure to be pupular with adventure seekers, with one circling the entire 110 acre park, and another near the skating pond. The community park is also home to several play areas for the little two-leggeds in your clan, sports fields, picnic areas, pavilions, a creek, and even campsites! Restrooms can also be found in the larger park.
