With the needs of small, elderly, and timid dogs in mind, one of the enclosures is reserved specifically for their use. While the play spaces are designated off-leash areas, dogs are required to remain on a lead in all areas of Glenburnie Park, and owners should also keep a lead near to them when their dogs are enjoying the dog playgrounds at Down East Dog Park.
Down East Dog Park is a private dog playground, and membership is required to access the property. Day passes are available at a cost of $5 per day, per dog for residents of New Bern and $15 per day, per dog for non-residents. Weekend and monthly passes are also offered, but the most popular package is the annual membership which can be purchased for $25 per year, per dog for residents and $50 per year, per dog for all others.
For families with multiple dogs in their homes, additional memberships can be purchased at a pro-rated cost of $20 for each additional dog for New Bern families and $35 for those residing elsewhere. Each membership is valid for one full calendar year. At the time of registration, owners must provide a completed application and release of liability form. It is also required that owners furnish a rabies certificate showing proof of current inoculation.
Down East Dog Park's dog play areas are well-equipped. Benches are installed throughout the property. Here, owners can relax and chat with other visitors while watching their dogs at play. Also housed in the runs is drinking water and poop bags. Entrance to the grounds is procured via an electronic pass key.
There are also many attractions on the premises of Glenburnie Park for families to enjoy as well. From bird watching and picnic lunches to fishing, kayaking, and more. There is something to appeal to every member of the family! For a great day of outdoor adventure, bring Fido and the family to visit Down East Dog Park!
